Howdy everyone,
Well, it looks like Mother Nature has arrived with the much-needed monsoon season here in Northern Arizona. That’s great news because we desperately need the rain. Unfortunately, the downside is that heavy downpours, frequent lightning, gusty winds, and the potential for localized flash flooding are not exactly ideal conditions for motorcycle riding.
I checked several weather services for Saturday, July 18, and unfortunately the outlook is not encouraging.
Forecast for the AZ-89 corridor between Chino Valley and Seligman:
- Scattered to numerous thunderstorms
- 55–70% chance of precipitation, depending on the forecast source
- Some storms could produce heavy downpours, frequent lightning, gusty winds, and localized flash flooding, especially in low-lying areas
With rider safety as the top priority, I am cancelling Saturday’s scheduled ride to the Roadkill Café in Seligman.
Stay safe, and hopefully Mother Nature will give us a break so we can get back on the road soon!
Sincerely,
Ted Kapner
Chapter Director
